I love to explore through travel, food, and hearing other's stories. I am a Christian and I value compassion, family, and a mindful, holistic approach to life. I love to learn and those who know me can tell you I am ALWAYS continuing my education. I initially trained as a Family Nurse Practitioner over 10 years ago and since then I have completed a three year fellowship in Integrative Medicine at University of Arizona, a Health coaching certification at Vanderbilt, and an additional certification in Functional Medicine; I have learned breath work, biofeedback, mindfulness, nutrition.
Through my journey working in healthcare, I learned that humans have more access to health information than ever before
but it's hard to know what is true or not.
A brief internet search can provide very conflicting information and leave us more confused than when we started. We can get stuck in "analysis paralysis" taking so much time to analyze what do to that we don't start at all.
Additionally, the lifestyle pieces we do know that can really make a difference- like movement, nutrition, social connection, having a clean/calm environment- we aren't always consistent- and because of that our health overall continues to decline and our stress levels continue to rise. In modern society we are expected to do more with less breaks, give 110% of ourselves even if we only have 70% energy that day and we have sensory overload with screens and information around us
but often feel more alone than ever before.
I have worked with people in all different ages and life journeys- those navigating chronic pain, complex medical issues as well as athletes, CEO's, physicians, music executives and women planning to conceive, postpartum recovery, mothers, women in perimenopause or menopause
I've been on a quest, ever since I first started my career, to find the best way I can truly make
a positive impact in others lives.
That's why I started the Resilient Health Collab.
There is a BIG difference between knowing what to do for your health and actually finding realistic, sustainable ways to do it so you get results. High achievers can get sucked into an "all or nothing" thinking pattern when it comes to lifestyle behaviors. I can say that, because it used to be me.
This is where I now shine. I've learned for myself how to find creative ways to make meaningful gains in my own health so I can continue to grow to be the best version of me- full of ease, energy, focus, compassion and joy to take on whatever comes my way-- and I can help you do it too.
A big passion of mine is cooking at home. Previously I created and led a group cooking class at Vanderbilt that was so much fun! I have lot of experience with meal pIanning and prepping and love to help busy women have whole foods available to eat, regulate their blood sugar and stay hydrated. I think that cooking can be a great way to connect with others, have fun and experiment... and it's so much more forgiving than baking! You'll find me at the Farmer's market on Saturday mornings stocking up on local goods for the week. What we eat really matters and I'll teach you from years of personal (and professional) experience!
If you're trying to find me... you'll most likely find me with my family. I love spending time with my daughter, Kate. Being her momma has been the most challenging but meaningful adventure of my life. I really had to learn to break all or nothing patterns of lifestyle goals once I had another human to care for 24/7 while continuing my education and working full time.
One of my favorite places is really anywhere in nature, especially near the water. Living in a land-locked state, I'm always looking for a river, lake or nearby waterfall. Radnor Lake is one of my local favorites here in Nashville. These are some of my favorite snaps during hikes at Radnor.
